Fort Whoop-Up National Historic Site

Founded by Montana traders in 1869, Fort Whoop-Up soon became the largest of many independent trading forts, trading a multitude of trade goods including whiskey for bison robes, furs and horses. The destination of the mounted police in 1874, the site continued operations for several more years also serving as an NWMP outpost.

Today the reconstructed post and adjoining galleries, gift shop, and concession, continues to take visitors back to these tumultuous times with 14 fully appointed period rooms, 2 Plains tribes galleries and an extensive firearms collection. Experience a stage coach ride in Indian Battle Park and enjoy a wide variety of hard ice cream. Shop our wide selection of gifts, souvenirs, and Blackfoot trade goods.

Have a great scoundrel experience at Fort Whoop Up!
